"Teenager Highlights Prejudice and Discrimination against Asexuals"

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/teenager-highlights-prejudice-discrimination-against-4776148

When I found this article, I got excited to see what it said. However, I was instantly disappointed. While I suppose it means well, even the teen british boy who inspired this article talks about asexuality more as a "not being ready" rather than"not having the desire" type of attitude. Additionally, the article says that asexuality"affects" around 1% of the population. It's not something you're affected by, it's an orientation, just like any other. And event though this article is mentioning the largely overlooked subject of asexuality, they are addressing it as it is misunderstood to be: not being ready, not being mature enough, not having enough hormones or having some sort of inherent difference.

There have actually been studies on the subject that have proven that asexuality is the same as any orientation and unrelated to psychical or mental issues or problems.
